The Mesomorph Body Type

Perfectly proportionate (ah shucks)

If you have a mesomorph body type, you tend to:

  • Have a muscular, rectangular outline with strong bones and broad shoulders
  • Have a well-defined chest and shoulders that are both larger and broader than your waistline
  • Have hips and shoulders that are approximately the same width
  • Have a taut stomach
  • Store fat evenly all over your body
  • Have the ability to gain muscle quickly, a benefit to you since it makes it easier for you to maintain a healthy body weight. This is because by increasing your muscle mass, you increase your body's ability to burn fat, which makes you lose weight faster

Most mesomorph have either a pear, apple or hourglass body shape. As a mesomorph, you are in one sense the luckiest of the three body types, since you have the tendency to be both muscular and ripped, which are the best attributes of both ectomorphs and endomorphs. As a mesomorph body type you also tend to have yummy thighs, which some studies believe are good for your health (hallelujah!)

Some other interesting mesomorph traits

With a mesomorph body type, you're a go-getter. You're assertive, bold, courageous, and competitive and love to keep active. Your hair and skin is thick and you tend to tan easily.

What exercise type is best for me as a mesomorph?

Toning exercises are an excellent choice, as you seem able to soak up the benefits the way a sponge soaks up water! You'll be pleased how quickly you can fine-tune your body into a natural shape and curve.

Strength exercises are also good, and you'll be able to add muscles while chisel away your body fat to reveal firm yet feminine curves. Do these regularly and ensure that you give every muscle good some attention.

  • Try to keep cardio exercise at 60-80% of your maximum heart rate
  • Workout out 3-4 times a week

This is so accurate. Its harder for me to do upper body exercises but i never struggle with my lower body so i suppose that point about killer legs is true lol. Arm tightening exercises and those for abs too please?

Being an out of shape mesomorph really isn't too difficult to fix. The problem lays within the mind - over coming all the laziness. Is there anything to help with motivation that you know of? Anything to help keep you on track. I've tried food journals, ect. But it's hard when you're on your own doing it and don't have support from anyone.

can you please help me ways to get rid of the fat around my stomach, hips and thighs

Cass said on: 31st July 2015, 11:43pm

I seem to have bulked up after almost two weeks of intense exercise. Especially my thighs, but all over really (which is how I know I'm a mesomorph!)
I really need to slim BACK down, as I was much leaner before, even the gap in my thighs has disappeared.
I've been working so hard, can't believe this is the result!
Please help

I'm a teen that's working really hard to get fit. I'm around 150 pounds right now which in my opinion isn't good AT ALL. I know that mesomorph bodies are heavier in some cases but seriously 150?
can I have any help with this at all, slimming down to the point where I'm lean everywhere except the arms and abs--which I really want defined yet toned.

Mesomorph for life!! I had always tried so hard to have that skinny, "feminine" body structure; turns out, weightlifting has made me more happy in my skin that ever! Honestly, even better than all the running PRE baby. I would definitely suggest lifting weights for mesomorphs (especially squats! :P), your body is made for sexy curves!

I didn't realize that the body structure build would indicate what type of exercise would best fit my training regimen. I have always had a muscular physic, and this description fits me to a T.

Maybe this explains why if I go down to 130 pounds I look like a skeleton. And people don't believe my weight isn't much lower.
